Chris de Burgh - 'Missing You'

Here we go again. Following the surprise success of the appalling ‘The Lady In Red’, ‘Missing You’ is another Chris De Burgh romantic slowie, one that got as high as number three in the UK as well as topping our charts. It’s another synthy, schmaltzy gloop. And yes, it’s another one where a woman’s worth is reduced to her chattel status and cosmetic market value among male-gaze window shoppers.

So, why is Chris treating his unfortunate partner to roses and wine, and saying he is missing her? Because “if I think you are beautiful / Someone else is going to feel it too / So there’s only one thing to do”. Creep.
