Another four weeks at number one in Ireland for a Simpsons track, making it 13 weeks of 1991 in total. As much as I like classic Simpsons, I also like pop music, and I didn’t need Simpsons merchandise at the top of the hit parade for a quarter of the year (or as its makers might understand it, Q1).
‘Deep, Deep Trouble’, another cartoon-level rap with excruciating rhymes, is lazier than Bart and ‘Do The Bartman’ combined. Typical lyric: “Dad yells “Bart!” and I go “Yo” / “He goes “You done yet?” / And I go “No” / So he goes..” It goes on: Homer’s punishment for Bart is that he “can’t go / To the boat show”. The boat show! You get the drift. I go “D’oh!”
