The Dave Clark Five - 'Bits And Pieces'

Give a man a hammer and every problem becomes a nail. Give that same man a drumkit and his own band, as with Dave Clark and his plus-four, and this Merseybeat-ish record becomes a stompy thumpathon. Apparently there’s actual stomping of feet on a wooden surface here, so at least we know the other four had something to do, plus it kept them warm. From the sound of the vocal track, they may actually be stomping on the singer too.

A brief melodic mid-section is dropped in, possibly from a random other song lying around, as some sort of cursory nod to us normies and our love of mere tunes. But don’t worry, all you stompaholics: it’s soon back to the bludgeon. ‘Bits And Pieces’ is a long two minutes of same, and I’m not sure why anyone would want to listen to it. Head-banging; head-scratching.
