Drake – ‘Toosie Slide’

Don’t worry, everyone. Here to save us poors from the drudgery of Covid lockdown is… Drake, showing us around his real-life mansion in the video (below) for ‘Toosie Slide’, from his trophy room to his marble kitchen island to his indoor pool, before a fireworks display by his outdoor pool and all around his stately pile for the neighbours and their pets to appreciate. The all-star ‘Imagine’ doesn’t seem quite so bad now, does it?

Still, I’ll be the bigger, better person and be charitable to Drake here. Even though he still has a flow like a smear of margarine, and rhymes as inane as Black Eyed Peas lyrics (“Got so many opps, I be mistakin’ opps for other opps”) and a chorus that hands flowers to an unsavoury person, ‘Toosie Slide’ is tolerable enough hip-hop lite. Of course, this is mainly because Drake’s blandness helps it pass me by without too much irritation, despite his many failings and the screen-print of Mao on his trophy-room wall and the aforementioned Jackson worship and… Oh well. My charity ends at Drake’s home.
